About me

Based in Saltash, Cornwall, I am surrounded by my favourite subjects – the coastline and countryside of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.

For me Photography is about expressing oneself through the images you capture. When I first picked up a camera, it felt natural for me to go out and photograph nature, and this has remained my favourite subject ever since. In particular, I love photographing the coast. In the south of England, the coast is one of the last places that can truly be described as wilderness.

Most of my landscape photography is done either at dawn or dusk, as this is when the light is at it’s most dramatic. Apart from the unsociable hours, I really enjoy being out at these times, because the light from a low sun can really transform a landscape, something that few of us ever get to see. In the UK, we have some very unpredictable weather, but I see this as a good thing. While the weather can be frustrating on occasion, it can also produce the most amazing and unique conditions without warning.

My favourite subjects for wildlife photography are insects; butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies. With practice and plenty of patience, you can approach them very closely, which makes them a wonderful subject to work with. While I prefer to photograph wildlife in the wild, I also support animal sanctuaries and breeding centres in order to get close to some exotic species.
